Product Description
MAN 40/54 CROWN FOR MARINE ENGINES
Piston is made up of two parts including the crown and the skirt. The MAN 40/54 CROWN is exposed to high temperatures in the combustion room, and the surface is prone to eroding or even burning away. As a result, the substance used to make the crown must be able to retain its strength and withstand corrosion at high temperatures. The MAN 40/54 CROWN also has four to five piston ring grooves that can be chrome plated.
MAIN BEARING is generally simple or journal bearing that is fixed in place by the engine block and bearing caps. The number of main bearings per engine differs between engines, and is often determined by the forces caused by the action of the engine. The average load factor and optimum engine speed are the primary determinants of the number of main bearings. The majority of engines have at least two main bearings, one at either end of the crankshaft.
